DIY Date, Dissertation, Driving, Run, Ramble and Reading

Hello all! So much to catch up on!!!! My boyfriend and I decided to have a date night at home last night and it was really lovely to open a bottle of red, snack on some olives and cook together. We had garlic flat bread and a side salad and made creamy spinach gnocchi and mushroom risotto using BBC Good Food recipes. It was delicious.   I managed to hand in that dreaded dissertation which was beyond a relief. Handing in something that has taken me a year to produce was quite the task. Feeling relieved that that is out the way and I only have my exams until I graduate! PHEW. I also have got back into my driving and have enjoyed being able to just drive out into the countryside and feel the freedom. I went for a run this morning. I know ...what a terrible idea. But it was really nice to get out in the misty rain and just run. Well run/walk with a lot of huffing. BUUUUUT I made it further than I was expecting. It was nice to feel the freedom running gives you when study f...

Maltesers and Me

This week has been a restful and thought evoking one. Maybe it’s been the combination of the ‘beast from the east’ making a wintry wonderland of scandy drama vibes and/or the virus that had me bed ridden and maybe has caused the cabin fever to go to my brain. But this week I have really been thinking… who am I? Now hear me out. I’m not going on a journey of self-discovery where ill end up climbing mountains and contorting myself into yoga positions while soaking in the sun rise in the Bahamas (although that does sound good).   Instead it’s been more of the sat indoors watching copious amounts of youtube, movies and video games while eating family size packets of maltesers.   Now maybe this is my quarter life crisis beginning or maybe I have always been trying to work out what makes me… me. When looking back on my resolutions for this year it has hit me that all of them involve me trying to be authentically me. Anyone who watched dans video this week will understa...

Woodland Walk

Last week I went on a woodland walk when everything was getting a little stressful. It was really lovely to completely switch off. The daffodils were starting to try and peak through and a smell of spring was in the air. Here are some pics I took and a poem I wrote. Hope you enjoy!   Light fractures with dark Tree limbs twist and split Gorse bursts yellow fire Feathers tight they flit Roots claw and bark shields Seeds cling as wind blow Crow caws and deer skit What lurks in shadows below

Products I’m loving

Heya all, Went and passed my driving test didn’t I! After months of worrying for the day to come, it came and it went well. No more driving lessons for me! After that relief ive spent the rest of the week slowly slogging through work and also slowly getting sick. Just in time for a presentation tomorrow…. Gooooood! Mid-week this last week I decided to give myself a pamper evening and I thought I would share with you the things that I have been loving for the last few months. Face: I have been looking to find a skin routine as exams are coming and deadlines close in my skin enjoys more breakouts and general dullness. I find that using this cleansing water (Garnier Micellar water) gets all the muck off my face. Even on a non-makeup day its surprising how much dirt ends up on your face. I have also starting to think more about treating my skin and have found that using this simple toner has made such a difference to my complexion without drying out my skin. This is qu...

Breakfast, Books and Brews

Hello cotton socks, Spring is starting everyone. I spotted this cheery fellow when walking across my campus and did the whole crouch and snap as quickly as possible. At least 4 people judged me. YOU ARE WELCOME. I love this time of year. Not the rainy, gloomy, here comes the BIG FREEZE or BLIZZARD AWAITS but more of the sunny brisk days where the air starts to smell of new life and beginnings rather than let me give you gloom and doom. If ya get my thinking. Guys, things are problematic. The world might come to an end on Wednesday at midday or it might be the best day of 2018 yet. You know why? I have my driving test. Well hopefully my only attempt but you know…aaaaaaaaa…. Everyone have their fingers and toes crossed. I probably shouldn’t try and drive with crossed limbs but needs must. Never been so worried for anything in my entire life so I’m planning an afternoon of chocolate, movies and a bath… regardless of the outcome. Will be done with tears or either joy or despair. ...

Look up

Heya all, After the doom and gloom of last week’s post I’m back to feeling my normal self this week.. YAAAAAAAAAAAYYYY. Managed to finish off some uni work yesterday so that was a relief with the next bit not due for a couple of weeks. I can BREATHE. I started with reflecting a bit more on what happened last week and really aimed to get back on track with my reading and me time and really found the benefits of this again.   There was one day this week when my work was really frustrating me. I was doing the typical ‘I’ll sit here and stare at my work but not make any changes for a few hours and feel frustrated at myself’ thing. So I went for a very fast walk for about 10 minutes. At the beginning I was walking so fast almost out of anger but by the end I looked up and made a point of stopping and really seeing the world for a minute and seeing that this project will be a thing of the past very soon and that in a years’ time ill nearly have forgotten that it even existed. And...

Week in Review - what a weeks its been...

Hello again everyone, How life is speeding me by I can barely stop to see it happen!   My dad bought me flowers and I think it’s the cutest thing in the world so thought I would document it on here to stop me forgetting. Buy people flowers everyone. Monday – Started the day with a work out which I am finding really does help to get me ready for the day by both relaxing me but also by helping me to concentrate. Spent the rest of the day sat at my laptop plugging away at stats and not really knowing what I was doing and whether the seemingly never ending numbers would… well… end. I have been finding it really difficult to hit the deadlines and find the motivation to keep going with such a big project. Have any of you got tips of how to find motivation? Tuesday – Did another work out today. I know I’m practically an Olympian. My body really didn’t like the close succession of work outs but I knew I wouldn’t get them done towards the latter half of the week. Went to uni and ...
