Look up

Heya all, After the doom and gloom of last week’s post I’m back to feeling my normal self this week.. YAAAAAAAAAAAYYYY. Managed to finish off some uni work yesterday so that was a relief with the next bit not due for a couple of weeks. I can BREATHE. I started with reflecting a bit more on what happened last week and really aimed to get back on track with my reading and me time and really found the benefits of this again.   There was one day this week when my work was really frustrating me. I was doing the typical ‘I’ll sit here and stare at my work but not make any changes for a few hours and feel frustrated at myself’ thing. So I went for a very fast walk for about 10 minutes. At the beginning I was walking so fast almost out of anger but by the end I looked up and made a point of stopping and really seeing the world for a minute and seeing that this project will be a thing of the past very soon and that in a years’ time ill nearly have forgotten that it even existed. And...

Week in Review - what a weeks its been...

Hello again everyone, How life is speeding me by I can barely stop to see it happen!   My dad bought me flowers and I think it’s the cutest thing in the world so thought I would document it on here to stop me forgetting. Buy people flowers everyone. Monday – Started the day with a work out which I am finding really does help to get me ready for the day by both relaxing me but also by helping me to concentrate. Spent the rest of the day sat at my laptop plugging away at stats and not really knowing what I was doing and whether the seemingly never ending numbers would… well… end. I have been finding it really difficult to hit the deadlines and find the motivation to keep going with such a big project. Have any of you got tips of how to find motivation? Tuesday – Did another work out today. I know I’m practically an Olympian. My body really didn’t like the close succession of work outs but I knew I wouldn’t get them done towards the latter half of the week. Went to uni and ...

Snow days

Heya all hows you first week of January been? My week back at uni starts this week and I’m looking forward to having the structure back in place but dreading the stress of everything that I have been putting off for so long being due in… helppp. Dissertation feels like it’s looming over me and the sooner I get going with it the better I reckon. I thought I would share with you some pictures of the snow we got a few weeks ago. It was really lovely to take a walk as we don’t get snow very often and having lived in Australia for a lot of my childhood it’s still quite novel to me!     T rees crack white carpet, Bleached blurs, land to sky, Twigs freeze in cold and motion, Kite shakes and sails by,   Bitter sting of breeze, Wellies crunch and slip, Silence blankets hungry land, Ice on branches grip I also have started to get on with my new years goals and drew this picture of a rabbit. Must admit this is not from my own mind and i...

Hello 2018!!!!

Hello 2018! I don’t know how this year went so fast but when I look back at everything that happened this year its seems like I would have needed years to get it all sorted! I went on a holiday to Majorca and up to the lake and peak districts, I passed my driving theory, passed second year uni, did lots of exams and coursework, went on a holiday with my boyfriend to Exmoor, did a placement at an ecology consultancy, started this blog, had field trips with my friends and generally just crammed the year full of things! I hope you all had a great 2017 and a great time celebrating new years. I spent the evening with my boyfriend and his parents and savage cat watching tv, playing board games and eating and drinking the night away. Now back it up a week and it was the joys of Christmas and I thought I would share on this blog post some of the gifts I was lucky enough to receive as some may spark some ideas for using up those gift cards or money received as present’s oooooor if yo...

Bristol break

Hello all! Hope you had a great Christmas. I spent Christmas with my family and ate way way waaaaay too much… worth it! Before Christmas though my boyfriend and I decided to have a night away in Bristol as a Christmas present to each other. We did this last year and went to the Winchester Christmas market so I think we are making it a bit of a tradition. I really recommend giving a present in the form of a memory as I will always look back on these nights away with fondness.   First of all we had a look around the Bristol museum and art gallery. The building was beautiful and was lovely to have a quick look around. I particularly enjoyed the natural history and art section. I think a visit to an art gallery is in order soon! We then met up with my friend who lives in Bristol and he showed us around the harbour front and back to the Christmas market and shopping area. We then had a look around the shops and it was lovely to be in a city at Christmas time with the hustle a...

Christmas Cards

Happy Monday everyone! Only 2 weeks until Christmas! How crazy is that. Finished uni this week and just yeeeeeeesssssssss! As promised here are my homemade Christmas cards that I made my family and boyfriend this year! I have always really enjoyed crafting but have never really got into painting. My paintings have always previously looked like a 5 year old had done it but none the less I thought that I would give it a try as a nice thoughtful thing to do for my family over just buying cards. I found most of these inspirations online and therefore cannot claim credit for creativity as I mostly just copied their designs but I am quite pleased with how they turned out! I used water colour paints and art paper that I taped to a board to try and lesson the warping due to the water. I found that starting off with a very light sketch helped me to keep the colours where I wanted them! Also building the painting up by letting it dry between layers helped me to build them up into what ...

'Christmas Tree, oh Christmas Tree'

Hello DECEMBER, Had such the chrismassy week this week! Think I have all my presents ready to go and wrapped up all pretty. I put up the tree at the weekend and took some pics to share with you guys because it’s just so pretty. My mum has been collecting decorations for years and I love the snowy icy theme. Also I love putting up the tree with my mum and we had a moment when we thought about how this probably will be my last Christmas living at home. Both exciting and a little sad. Think ill have to pop back next year and still set up the tree with her though. The boys in my house are no longer interested but I love getting it all just right… bit of a neat freak I knooooow. Loved listening to Christmas songs and singing along while we decorated. Really makes me start to feel Christmassy with the lights all warm in the evening. Started the chocolate calendar this week too!.. and went to maccas and tried their cookie latte! All the yummy things!      ...
